Any listing in this product directory or other related materials, where “NRTL” appears next to the product name was tested by ARL as a NRTL.  The NRTL status for these listed products was valid through January 27th, 2008 unless previously delisted.  These products may remain listed solely by ARL. However, they are no longer under the surveillance of the NRTL program.

TRANSFER SWITCH EQUIPMENT

The products listed here cover automatic, non-automatic, and by-pass/isolation transfer switches intended for use in ordinary locations to provide for lighting and power for Automatic transfer switches and by-pass/isolation switches for use in emergency systems in accordance with the following:

a)            Articles 517-Health Care Facilities, 700-Emergency Systems, 701-Legally Required Standby Systems, and 702-Optional Standby Systems of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 and the National Fire Protection Association Standard for Health Care Facilities ANSI/NFPA 99;

b)            In optional stand-by systems in accordance with Article 702 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70-1996;

c)            In legally required stand-by systems in accordance with Article 701 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70-1996;

d)            Automatic transfer switches and by-pass/isolation switches for use in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association Standard for Centrifugal Fire Pumps, ANSI/NFPA 20;

e)            Non-Automatic transfer switches for use in accordance with Articles 517-Health Care Facilities, and 702-Optional Standby Systems of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 and the National Fire Protection Association Standard for Health Care Facilities, ANSI/NFPA 99.

Each product is marked with the name or trademark of the (manufacturer) or vendor, a distinctive style, type, model or catalog designation, date code, voltage, and the input rating in amperes or watts.  In addition, the devices are marked with one of the following as appropriate: “Service Entrance” and other hazard or warning markings as required for individual products.

These products comply with ARL requirements which include pertinent sections of the Standards for Safety, ANSI/UL 1008, Transfer Switch Equipment.

A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or different from those covered by the requirements of the standard, and that involve a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, have been evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-product requirements as determined necessary to maintain the acceptable level of safety as originally anticipated by the intent of the standard.  A product whose features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems conflict with specific provisions of the standard have been judged to be in non-compliance with the standard.

Only products which properly bear the ARL Listing Mark (Label) are considered Listed by ARL
