The 65th International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition, cosponsored by The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), is the largest collection of HVAC manufacturers and representatives of the year, a virtual who’s who in the industry.  ARL participated with a booth, manned by four representatives; President Bruce Sukert, Director of Quality Assurance Kris Donate, Listing Compliance Inspector Mauricio Silva, and Bookkeeper Daisy Carrasco. The booth was visited by upwards of 70 people.

For ARL, it was a good opportunity to let HVAC manufacturers know that there are quicker and more cost-effective sources for product safety testing.  As a certified testing laboratory, ARL is performing the equivalent testing of some better-known laboratories, but with a more personalized service and much better response and turnaround time.

One of ARL’s newer initiatives showcased at the expo was Energy Star certified energy efficiency testing. “Energy Star ratings can be a major factor influencing purchasing of HVAC systems”, according to Bruce Sukert, President of ARL. “Environmentally conscious people, when given the choice, will buy products with a lesser impact. Even those people who are not environmentally conscious appreciate the financial benefits of lower energy use”.

ARL was also proud to present their status as a TUV Rheinland partnership lab.  This partnership adds to ARL’s offerings in product safety certification and field-testing, and performance testing in general.

The ARL staff did not spend the whole time sitting in their own booth.  They walked around the expo and talked to as many people as possible, seeking input on how they might improve their offerings. ARL is always looking for areas in the heating and cooling industry to expand their services in, and welcomes feedback.  They came back with some good ideas, especially in the refrigeration area, that they intend to follow up on.

ARL’s participation at the AHR Expo is expected to bring a lot of new business to the company. Most of the people the ARL representatives talked to were impressed by the promise of faster turnaround time.
